“Oh you’re so skinny.”

The office women say.

Snacking on calories,

As the crumbs fall down,

“You can give me some,”

They giggle and chortle,

Laugh and wheeze,

Out of breath,

It’s ok to laugh.

I force my own out,

A stiff thing,

Going through motions,

Of what I’ve done before.

“Yeah,” I end with,

Dashing away with a smile,

Fake and hopeful,

They don’t see my disdain.

“Oh you’re so skinny.”

Repetition.

Monotony.

Suffering.

“You can have some of mine.”

Guffaw,

Laugh,

Smile.

Smile.
